About Teacher Cadets

EXCEL Teacher Cadets is a program open to all juniors and seniors in all Little Rock School District high schools. The program seeks to immerse cadets in classrooms and other educational settings to allow them to test-drive a career as an educator and to help them start their journey to becoming an educator.

The class meets daily at UALR in Dickinson Hall at UALR. Cadets travel to schools and organizations throughout Little Rock, exploring teaching and learning in K-8 classroom settings in both public and charter schools and in other institutions. Educational mentors pair with each cadet to mentor them throughout the year.

Cadets earn concurrent credit through UALR, a micro-credential through Educator's Rising,  and an internship in the Spring semester. EXCEL seeks to equip students with professional skills that give them a competitive edge.  To learn more, visit the EXCEL website at www.lrsdexcel.org.
