On November 14, all EXCEL students will attend an ALL DAY Leadership Summit at Southwest Community Center (on Baseline). During that event, you will work with a local non-profit. To prepare, please explore the four non-profit organizations below.

Code of Ethics for Arkansas Educators

Learning Objective: 

• Explain what the code of ethics is and why having a code is important.
• Identify the 8 standards of the Arkansas Educator's Code of Ethics and apply the code to particular real-life situations.

Assessment:  Create a Kahoot game of 7-10 questions that tests the knowledge of the Arkansas Educator's Code of Ethics. Be sure some of the questions apply the code, giving real-life scenarios that would violate the code.

Learning Objective:  

• Develop and write a lesson plan that applies what you've learned thus far about teaching and learning.
• Teach your lesson plan to Teacher Cadet colleagues.

Activities:

1.  Select one element of growth and development for the topic of your lesson plan:
• Physical Development (Juan)

2.  Read the materials provided to gain a better understanding of the topic and approaches to  teaching it.
3. Conduct research to find additional resources and activities you might use in your lesson plan.
4. To your growth and development Pinterest board, add at least five useful resources you found in your research. 
5. Add your growth and development board as a Pinterest widget to your blog sidebar. Here's how.
6. Write your lesson plan. Be sure to include lesson objectives, activities, and assessment.
7. Turn in your lesson plan to Mrs. Huff by Friday, September 20 to get feedback. 
8. Prepare to teach your lesson. Create everything you will need to teach the lesson--hand-outs, online resources, supplies for activities, etc.
9. Teach your lesson in class on your assigned day the week of September 23. 

Assessment:

1. Lesson Plan:  (emailed to Mrs. Huff by end of class Friday, 9/20)
• Shows a variety of activities that appeal to different learning styles
• Includes 3 essential parts:  objectives, activities, assessment
2. Teaching Lesson: (week of September 23)
• Shows ample preparation.
• Engages all learners.
• Makes lesson objective clear to learners.
• Uses at least three activities to appeal to different learning styles.
• Includes assessment to see if learners mastered learning objective.
